Trailer: ‘The Babadook’ Is The Best Reviewed Horror Film Of The Year

0

Australian horror film The Babadook has been praised by many and currently has a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with 24 positive reviews. Released in Australia earlier this year, The Babadook will hit VOD and have a limited theatrical release in the US starting November 28, 2014.

The Babadook is the first feature written and directed by Jennifer Kent. In 2005 she also wrote and directed a short film called Monster that shares some similarities with The Babadook. The concept appears to be something that she’s thought about for a while and the long gestation period seems to have paid off.

Monster synopsis from IMDB:

A mother battles with her son’s fear of a monster lurking in the closet, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.

And here’s The Babadook synopsis from IMDB:

A single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, battles with her son’s fear of a monster lurking in the house, but soon discovers a sinister presence all around her.

An original concept, convincingly scared actors, and some good jump scares fill the UK trailer for The Babadook. It shows just enough to sell the film without giving away too much of the plot.

I think it’s safe to say The Badadook could be the must see horror film of the year. I know it’s at the top of my list.
