“Let’s Rock” got some hype before the episode aired, but it seems to have disappointed part of the Twin Peaks fan base.
We had a great time with the episode, which opened up seemingly new threads along with dropping new character names. It seems a bit late in the series for that considering there are only 6 episodes left, but we have faith in Lynch and Frost.
Some things not discussed in the video were:
- The arm said “Let’s Rock” during the original series, which is what Diane says during the first part of the episode after being deputized. Does this mean she’s aware of this phrase and its relation to the Black Lodge?
- Some have speculated that the French Woman was actually giving a signal to Albert. Did Gordon Cole find her in the bar and recruit her to give this message, in case Diane was spying on them?
- With Mulholland Drive originally being about Audrey wanting to become an actress, some have speculated that what we saw of her was a film, tv show (Invitation to Love: The Return?), or play. She does mention Billy (who seems to be missing), and The Roadhouse. If anything, it seems to be something locally produced, or possibly she’s the writer and included the Roadhouse in the script. We’re not ready to go down that path yet, but it is something interesting to think about.
