While our previous Soundtrack Swaps may have been executed more successfully than this Halloween III and Trick ‘R Treat Soundtrack Swap ended up being, the intent of these video experiments has always been to see how music affects a scene and can change the tone of a film. While Halloween III: Season of the Witch and Trick ‘R Treat both take a playful approach to Halloween, Season of the Witch is much more about creating an uneasy atmosphere for the audience with its focus on conspiracy and mystery, which is much different than Trick ‘R Treat‘s goal of satisfying the audience with a twist or dark humor at the end of each short story it tells.
Douglas Pipes’ Trick ‘R Treat score gets more to the point than John Carpenter and Alan Howarth’s Halloween III score so many of these edits were obvious choices and didn’t really pack the same punch for me as the last Soundtrack Swap I put together.
Even still, if you’re a fan of Trick ‘R Treat and Halloween III: Season of the Witch, I hope you get some enjoyment revisiting some of these scenes through a slightly different lens. Happy Halloween and October is just getting started for HBTVS!
