‘Batman Returns’ (1992)  Directed by: Tim Burton

If you’re looking for an unconventional movie that takes place during the Christmas holiday, there are more than a few options out there. If you want something that is moody, stylistic, dark, and full of adult content you may just be in luck. Batman Returns is the weirdest big budget super hero movie ever made, takes place during the Christmas holiday, and is darker that you probably remember. It includes some sexual innuendo, characters getting blown up, and Danny Devito chewing scenery all over the place (as well as noses).

In this video I cover the reasons that this movie is worth a watch in the lead up to Christmas. It’s not a horror movie, but it does have a few plot elements and imagery that bring it rather close to being one at times. This movie is a visual treat with snow on the ground throughout and sets that would almost seem more at home in Edward Scissorhands or The Nightmare Before Christmas than in a big budget summer movie. Do you agree with my assessment of the movie, or that it’s a great watch during the holiday season? Let us know in the comments!
