BANNED AND X-RATED: Why ‘ANGST’ Is A Must See For Cinephiles

0

After being banned in many countries and only screened in XXX theaters in America upon initial release in 1983, Angst (also known as Scizophrenia) finally hit DVD and Blu-ray in the US on September 8th 2015. Told primarily through internal narration, Angst is a semi-true crime Austrian film based on the mass murderer Werner Kniesek.

Directed by Gerald Kargel and shot by Oscar Winning Cinematographer Zbig Rybczynski, Angst subverts the traditional slasher and home invasion cinema, and defies typical genre conventions that had became commonplace during the slasher boom of the early 80’s.

Watch our video to see why Angst is a must-see for cinephiles and if it still holds up after over 30 years later.
