As I kid, every time I was up late and alone when tv stations signed off leaving me to stare at a static filled screen, I always kinda wished that a poltergeist would have sucked me inside the tv. So needless to say I have fond memories of the original ‘Poltergeist’ and the iconic tv scene, as I could never see static without thinking about it. That being said, I have a weird gripe about repeating it in a modern remake. Now that we’ve made the transition to digital is there even static on televisions at all?

Ah, who cares! I just wanna see a family get brutally terrorized by a poltergeist!

The Sam Raimi produced, Gil Kenan directed ‘Poltergesit’ remake looks to be pretty intense despite it’s PG-13 rating, and star Same Rockwell having told Collider that it’s “more of a kids movie.”

Here’s the official synopsis:

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (“Spiderman,” “Evil Dead”, “The Grudge”) and director Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.

Poltergeist hits US theaters July 24th, 2015 and stars Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, and Jane Adams.
