Video: ‘The Thing’ Rescored with Lost Themes

0

John Carpenter’s The Thing is an absolute classic with an amazing score composed by Ennio Morricone. It was one of the few movies Carpenter directed that he did not also score. After the release of Lost Themes however, an album of original music from the horror master himself, I started wondering what it would look and sound like if a few scenes from The Thing were scored with songs Carpenter wrote in place of Morricone’s original compositions. In this video I have done just that, and used songs from the album in a few scenes to see how much different it would make them feel.

Carpenter’s next album Lost Themes II can be pre-ordered now, which will allow you to stream 2 tracks before the album’s release. Do you think the rescored scenes work, or ruin the mood set up by the original score? Let us know what you think in the comments!
